Manufacturer: The Boeing Company
Role: Narrow-body Freighter
Overview
The Boeing 737 freighter family represents the backbone of short-haul and regional air cargo operations worldwide. It is popular with regional and eCommerce feeder operations. Originally based on passenger aircraft converted to freighters, the 737 freighter line has evolved into a mix of legacy classics and modern NG-based conversions, with the 737-800BCF emerging as the global narrow-body freighter workhorse. The 737-800BCF is supported by Boeing with a growing production footprint, though other MRO operations offer conversions.
Both combi and cargo configurations exist, especially in the classic generation. The primary operations include Amazon Air, ASL, DHL, and many Asian operators. Boeing has not officially launched a MAX-based freighter, though it is likely that there will be MAX 8 P2F conversions.
The 737 Freighter Family Segments:
- Classics (737-200C/F, -300F/300QC, -400F)
- Next-Generation (737-700C, -800BCF/BDSF)
- MAX (early studies on freighter replacement)
