A350F Freighter | Overview

Manufacturer: Airbus SE
Type: Large Wide-body Freighter

Overview

The A350F is Airbus’s long-range, high-efficiency freighter based on the A350-1000 airframe. It is designed to meet current ICAO CO₂ emissions standards, which will restrict older aircraft like the 747-400F and even the 777F in some jurisdictions by 2028. Unlike converted freighters, the A350F is purpose-built, with a new cargo door, reinforced floor, and revised center fuselage structure. Airbus claims it will offer 20% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions than the current 777F.

Its market positioning aims to fill the gap left by retiring 747s while undercutting the 777-8F on operating costs and emissions compliance. Airbus is banking on fleet renewal needs among legacy carriers and cargo operators with older 747Fs and early 777Fs. Its launch reflects Airbus’s long-term belief in the sustained demand for fuel-efficient, ICAO-compliant freighters. Leasing companies (ALC, CDB Aviation) and major cargo operators (Singapore Airlines, CMA CGM Air Cargo, Etihad Cargo) have already placed orders, validating demand in both the integrator and belly freight replacement segments.
